Entrepreneurship / Lesson 02

Lesson 02 · School of Entrepreneurship

Sales is the key skill

Sales is the shortest path to reality

The thesis

Sales is not making people want what they do not need. It is finding a real need, making a bounded offer, asking for a commitment, and learning from the answer.

What sales contains

Discovery, qualification, framing, asking, handling uncertainty, closing the smallest honest commitment, and delivering what was promised. A founder who can build but cannot ask remains trapped in private certainty.

Founder-led sales

Early sales should stay close to the person who understands the problem and can change the offer. Delegating before the offer is legible turns confusion into a process.

The ethical boundary

Do not manufacture urgency, hide constraints, or use a relationship as leverage. A no is evidence. A yes based on misunderstanding is a delayed failure.

Do the work

Have five conversations with people who plausibly experience the problem. Ask what they do now, what it costs, what they tried, and whether they will take one bounded next step.

Falsifier: If this lesson makes you feel more certain but does not change the next observable action, it has probably become motivation content instead of an operating tool.

This is a working course document combining first-principles reasoning with observations from BIPU work. It is not a guarantee of business success. Ask what would falsify it.
